First Blog Evar!

Hello! I'm trying to set up a blog page as part of my Author's Website, none of which I've attempted before. I've been working on Jester Prince for over a decade, and it's thrilling to be on the very verge of having an actual book in hand. When I began working on it, people still read books, publishers still printed books, bookstores were buildings where you could go to buy books, authors were people you could meet if you wanted by going to a bookstore but you could also read their book while knowing very little about them, and agents were people who encouraged publishers to print books authors wrote. This is now a very different world, and I'm doing my best to navigate the changes without berating myself for coming from what's now a different plantet than this one.

As I describe in one of the introductions to Jester Prince, I've never been a consistent journalizer: I own at least a dozen handsome blank books with the first ten or twenty pages full of fascinating life details or complex emotional dramas with insufficient referential indices to actually know what story was going on - followed by 150 beautiful, high rag-content blank pages. I realize I've been sort of using the Facebook as a substitute, including my latest obsession or rant to share with the part of the world that seems to care. But now I'll try again to start a diaritical habit, and see what happens.

My second day editing this website, the app asked me if I wanted to review my blog posts from the previous day. My what? It turns out the AI robot had WRITTEN SOME GIBBERISH POSTS as if it were by me. I have to say, I am a confirmed Luddite when it comes to artificial "intelligence." Yes, it can help doctors with complicated surgeries, it can help virtual reality designers with creating elaborate environments - but I don't need a robot to do my writing for me. And the fact that it just did it, assuming that was something I wanted, was more than a little shocking. The Epstein/Bezos class seems to intend to turn us to a white feudal society - exiling all the people of color who do the actual agricultural and construction work, and replacing all intellectual and creative jobs with robots, so they can put the remaining Caucasians (whoever qualifies, I'm pretty sure I don't) out in the fields, without health care or insurance or retirement, until we die. Dystopian? Dis is da trut'. I frankly didn't expect Capitalism to survive past about 1973, so this is not the timeline I expected. But here we are!
